  1. I live in Bethesda Maryland, same thing happening here. The manchanization of whole neighborhoods.

  2. I live in CT and realize this could happen in any city neighborhood.
I do find it interesting seeing the before and the afters.

    1. If your in-town neighborhood has "the schools" and unlovable housing stock, this is probably happening. Our Pre-wars usually get rehabbed; our postwar un-rehabbed 1200 square-footers get knocked as they come up for sale.

  3. I love following the teardowns Terry! For the most part the after was better than what was there to begin with. My least favs were the Buckhead brick house and the Argonne Forest house - bleh! Of course my fav was the contemporary (a good contemporary will fit in anywhere won't it?) All in all, the builders did well to fit in with the existing pattern language.

  4. Wow, just started following your blog after finding it through your post on cathedral inspiration house.
I've just returned to Atlanta after living in Richmond, VA for Fifteen years. This city has changed greatly. Some things are inevitable, I guess. All the homes there surrounding the city are very traditional makeovers in keeping with the history and architecture.
I'm in agreement with you, someone has money to spend. these are all great make overs.
    Love the blog.
